This study deals with the main features of locutors in La zona fantasma (Marías) and Patente de corso (Pérez Reverte). After a brief introduction on argumentative discourse and the opinion columns, the identity of the locutor/enunciator is analysed in detail. More precisely, the article will demonstrate how mode, polyphony and heterogeneity of discursive sequences support the persuasive objective pursued by this kind of discourse.
